Economic prosperity of a developing country like India is mainly dependent on integration of its agriculture with industry. In India a large number of big, medium and small industries in rural as well as urban areas depend upon agriculture. After Independence, the role and importance of rural agro-based industries as well as development of infrastructural facilities in the economic upliftment of the rural people has been recognised. In this study, an attempt has been made to study the infrastructural facilities and agro-based industries and their impact on rural employment, rural income and rural wage structure in the rural areas. The efforts made by the Government to develop these facilities for the uplift of the rural economy has also been studied. Major factors responsible for the socio-economic development in the region at micro level in the State of Haryana have been identified and studied.
