How is Para Sakti related to the phenomenal world and especially to the man with Sankoca-limitation? The Lalitasahsranamastotram has been able to solve this philosophic problem on the empirical and transcendental side on the basis of CitSakti Consciousness and Bhavana0meditative aspect on 'Mantra-yantra-tantra'. The experience of man speaks that the origination is possible with the union of male and female principle. The idea of the unity of Siva and Sakti are always equal and identical, but may be viewed differently to suit the psychee of devotees. Benign mother Lalita is 'Sivasakyaikarupini'. Lalita is Samarasya-parayana-the principle of unchanging unity and harmony. Kashmiri Saktas are traditionally the worshippers of Sri Yantra and the experiencers of Matrkapujanam. The immutable phonemes begin with aa and end with ha thus evolving into the higher consciousness. Mother Lalita is immutable in the form of Varnamala the eternal garland of phonemes. In the world of name and form Lalita in her emotional aspect continues the process of creation through Matrka-or the Supernal 'Sabda brahman'. The emotion of Lalita is impregnated with the three hrms of Lajjabija. Hrm is the evolutionary aspect of the Divine Lalita. Dr. Rana has tried to deal with the subject matter of this sacred Sahsranama from Kashmir Sakta view point.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Chaman Lal Raina
Born in 1940 A.D. at Srinagar in the Himalayan State of Jammu & Kashmir. Was initiated into the Saraswati Bija Mantra by Madhavanand Saraswati of Srinagar, Kashmir at the age of five. He has studied the Shaiva and Shakta scripture from the traditional system of kadi vidya of Kashmir. Had his schooling in the premier Institutions of Srinagar. Did Honours in Urdu at Aligarh; Master in Hindi & Urdu at Aligarh; Masters in Hindi & English Ph.D. in Hindi & Iqbaliat at the University of Kashmir. Worked on the research project at the Iqbal Institute for writing monographs on Indology as Research Associate. Worked as lecturer to teach research methodology in Iqbal Institute, University of Kashmir. Dr. Raina's first love is for the Vedas and the Shakti Tradition of India. Wrote research oriented articles on the Vedas, Shaktivad in Kashmir. To his credit goes some ten books on Indology. He was awarded Nagmani Fellowship, Buddhist Fellowship etc. from various Institutions. He is the founder member of NSKRI, New Delhi and Director Research of Madhyma Pratipada Hindi Patrika, Ajmer. Attended various National & International conferences and seminars in India, Trinidad & Tobago, the U.S.A. Presently Dr. Raina is associated with the Yoga Studies at Florida International University, (USA) and works as Programme Director for the Foundation of Indology & Culture, Miami (USA). He has been invited to work on the Encyclopaedia of Africana at the ANWS at FIU, USA to focus on Mahatma Gandhi and Ahimsa subjects.
