The present triple volumes set is comprehensive analysis of crisis and conflict in the 20th century women in India for equal status in socio-economic and political life. The main role of women in most of the society all over the world is expected and confined to perform the household job, child bearing and care of entire family. For all these works, there was neither wages nor their works recognised as much important as that of man. But with the advancement of science and technology, there has been tremendous changes in the life style of men and women. The work structure for educated and uneducated employed or unemployed has basic similarities in the domestic front. Arati Mehta is a leading feminist historian has obtained her M.A. degree from Ranchi University, Jharkhand and Ph.D. from the same University. She had produced several research papers in leading research journals. Presently she is working as a lecturer in Ranchi Women’s College, Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Latika Menon obtained her Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Delhi and subsequently a doctorate, with specialization in women’s development issues, from Madras University. She has worked as a counselor and social psychologist with organizations of repute and has been associated with several women’s development NGOs as Consultant and Board Member. She is at present Deputy Director, Research and Training, with Scientific and Technical Research for Employment and Earnings (STREE), a government-aided institution for the promotion of employment opportunities among economically backward women’s groups.

Dr. Uma Shankar Jha is a leading Indian Africanist wo introduced African Studies in India through the National Language which he was conferred the Best Editor of which he was conferred the Best Editor Award by the Hindi Academy, Delhi for the year 1993-94. Working as a pool officer under the Scientists Pool Scheme at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. Dr. Jha competed his post-doctoral Research Work on “Apartheid in south Africa and Non-Aligned Movement†from the Department of Political Science, University of Delhi. Dr. Jha is Editor-in-Chief of University Newspaper (in Hindi), Africa (India’s First Research Journal in National Language) and World Vision (Research Journal of International Relations).
