In the words of "Nehru it is stated that I have been of the opinion that nation’s progress depends on the position of women. The fall of India from her high status was partly atleast due to the deterioration of the status and position of women in India". Since 1970’s considerable attention has been focused on the need for raising the status of women in all angles in the society. Experts suggest that improvement in the status of women expedites the success of family planning. The present book is based on the original primary data collected personally through interview method in Nellore and Anantapur districts of Andhra Pradesh. India in order to present a comparative picture of status of women and adoption status of family planning methods. Because, in Andhra Pradesh, Nellore district is developed area and Anantapur is a backward area by all socio economic and cultural characteristics. There is much more room for potential researchers in this area of investigation. This study will, therefore, serve not only as a model for future research workers, but also prove valuable in policy formulation and administrative run-up.
