It resulted into environment vs. development conflict. To achieve ad maintain the economic growth in different sectors of economy for the welfare of human beings without environmental degradation became a major challenge for every country of the world.
Environmental sustainability and socio economic development are today recognized as interdependent integral components of sustainable development and poverty reduction.
