ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sumitra Srivastava
Formerly Senior Lecturer in Psychology in the Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing, New Delhi, a University of Delhi College run by the Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India Dr. Sumitra Srivastava obtained the M.A. (Psychology) and B.T. degrees from Agra University and Ph.D. (Psychology) from the University of Delhi. During her teaching career spanning over 38 years in the Women’s Training College, Dayal Bagh, Agra, Dayanand Girls’ College, Kanpur and R.A.K. College of Nursing, New Delhi, Dr. Srivastava has taught M.A. (Psychology), M.Phil. and Master of Nursing courses in Psychology. Her fields of special study and research interests in Psychology have been Social Psychology and Clinical and Health Psychology, and she has been researching and writing extensively in these areas. Dr. Srivastava has published several research papers and article in academic journals in the field and also in the national dailies. Her earlier books entitled Stress Personality and Cancer (1988) and Understanding Stress – A Multidimentional Approach (1998) have been appreciated and well received both by the reviewers and the readers. Dr. Srivastava is associated with several educational and social institutions in various capacities. She is the Joint Secretary of the Association for Social Health in India, and in that capacity has been actively engaged in improving the Social Health of the people.
