The present work is a collection of the essays on art history of India by Prof. Raju Kalidos written during the past twenty-five years of his academic research. The articles concentrate on heritage, changing cultural values, art in architecture, the temple cars, sculptures, historical setting of caste and communalism and the interaction of Prof. Kalidos with the contemporary trend in traditional and modern art. Few of the articles show his reaction to comments on papers that appeared in international journals. The editors have taken the privilege of inserting some of their publications in this volume as a token of their love to Prof. Kalidos.
These have been published mainly in the mass media for creating awareness among the elite and the common man regarding our cultural heritage. And few of the articles appeared in research journals. Since there is no authentic record of the mass media articles, there is a need to republish them.
The book is a welcome contribution to scholars who think freely, not bound by the clutches of tradition and impoverished thoughts as the wise saying is:
“Great thoughts come from the heart” – Sara Teasdale
Prof. Raju Kalidos speaks from his heart to the inquisitive hearts that think freely.
