Thousands of inscriptions have been copied over a period of more than 100 years from different parts of India. Inscription serves as the important source material for the reconstruction of history. Coping new inscriptions is a desideratum on the one hand, they also reveal new information for further research on the other. The Epigraphical Society of India has been established with an idea to provide a forum to bring out fresh information and epigraphical discoveries made in different parts of the country.
