Wetlands of Manipur which mainly found in the Central Valley of Manipur are of immense value and support thousands of lives. But these wetlands are on the verge of extinction due to mainly anthropogenic factors. This work is based on field surveys conducted during the year 2005-06. This book deals with the overview of wetlands, distribution and classification of wetlands in the Central Valley of Manipur. All the existing wetlands in the Central Valley of Manipur and Villages dependent on these wetlands were taken for intensive case studies to assess the functions, threats and impacts of the wetlands.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Khundrakpam Moirangleima
Dr. Khundrakpam Moirangleima, is presently working as a project Fellow in the Department of Geography, A.M.U., Aligarh. She has completed her Ph.D. in 2008 from the same University. She specializes in Regional Planning and Development, Urban and Environmental issues. She has been honoured with Young Geographer Award in 2 years during the National Conference under the UGC DRS Programe, on the topic ‘Urban and Rural Environmental Management’ in the Department of Geography, A.M.U., Aligarh, on 2-3 March, 2006 and ‘Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Development’ on 1st 2nd March’ 2008 in the Department of Geography, A.M.U. , Aligarh, for the best paper presentation. She has completed many research projects, published papers in reputed International and National Journals and books. She has also presented papers in the National and International Conferences.
