ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.K. Moharana

Dr. Surendra Kumar Moharana (b. 1947) is one of the promising scholars of Orissa and his field of research is the ancient Indian history and culture. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in History by the Utkal University in 1987. His research papers have been published in some leading national and international journals. The speciality of his papers is the methodology of historical research and handling of historical and archaeological materials. He has the privilege of coming in contact with eminent historians like Dr. N.K. Sahu, Prof. Prabhat Mukherjee, Dr. J.K. Sahu and their advice and guidance have stood him in good stead in shaping his career as a research scholar. Dr. Moharana is also a well-known name in Oriya literature. He is the author of more than twenty books on Orissan culture and literature mostly meant for scholars and students at graduate and post-graduate levels. Odia Sahityara Itihasa (History of Oriya Literature), one of his masterpieces, is a monumental work on Oriya literature.
