The book ‘Taxonomic Studies in the tribe Dalbergieae in the Indian Sub-Continent’ deals with a critical evaluation of the present day taxa in the Indian sub-continent. The last treatise on this group was that of David Prain in 1904 when he monographed the Asiatic Dalbergia. Rojo revised the genus Pterocarpus on a world wide basis in 1970. Most of the species of the two genera are woody shrubs and tree legumes, yielding valuable timber. The information provided under each species includes correct name, an elaborate description, detailed distribution data, phenology and notes of economic importance These are again supplemented with selected illustration and distribution maps. The work is the outcome of intensive and extensive studies on the two genera (Dalbergia and Pterocarpus) in the field and in herbaria, Indian and foreign.
