ABOUT THE AUTHOR J.S. Brar

Dr. Jasmail Singh Brar (b. 1942) is Reader in Political Science at Punjabi University, Patiala. Prior to joining the University in 1983, he taught in some of the premier colleges of Punjab including the Government College, Ludhiana. His areas of interest are State Politics, the Indian Political System and Political Theory. He has contributed a number of research papers and articles to various books and journals. His contributions have been included among others in T.R. Sharma (ed.) New Challenges of Politics in Indian States (Uppal, 1986), Gopal Singh (ed.) Punjab Today (Inetellectual, 1987) and Paul Wallace and Surendra Chopra (eds.) Political Dynamics and Crisis in Punjab (GNDU-1988). He has participated in a number of national seminars and conferences.
