Teaching of Human Rights (Volumes I and II)

The introduction of human rights education as a specific part of the curriculum is the principal topic of this text, it is rather the necessity of ensuring that all parts of the curriculum, including the whole process of education, conform to the minimal human rights standards. It is rarely verified how teachers, authors of textbooks, parents and children themselves have understood and internalized these explicit values which education is required to promote. What is known as human rights, democracy, or values education, comes late in the curriculum and is preceded by subjects which are deemed to be factual, such as history, or geography. This book, Teaching of Human Rights is divided into two volumes and four parts, each of which is informative, interesting and educative for students, where Part-I is about Topical Introductions and Theoretical Readings and includes subtopics as what are Human Rights? Why we need them, human rights as moral rights of man, atrocities, abuses in history and purpose of humanitarian law, precursors to the 20 century human rights, United Nations and evolution of laws of human rights, constitutional traditions in interpreting general rights of man and constitutional fundamental rights and provisions in India.
