This novel is conjured up in the forests of Jerwaha (J and K). Tasleem Hasan, the commander of Kasam-e-Islam inveigles Faryad Khan to join his terror network. Faryad, the only son of a poor school master and a brilliant student, climbs high in the esteem of the masters of terror. His exploits include the assassinations of a mayor and a Chief Minister. He also plans and executes the kidnapping of a billionaire from Japan! But the success story of Faryad comes to a sudden end when his dearest father Mehboob Khan succumbs to his own plot. The deep sense of remorse drives Faryad to abandon terror forever. To atone for his sins, Faryad confesses to his old school fellow inspector Mohammad Mirza. He also guides Mirza and his posse of policemen to the hideout of Kasam-e-Islam where the entire gang is eliminated. Unable to cope with intense grief and the pressure of his Oath on Holy Quran, Faryad shoots himself, just as Mirza liquidates his comrades in terror. The story affirms that a leader with strong political WILL along can banish terrorism from his backyard by permitting police forces to work unfettered by extraneous consideration.
