Seed is both an important item in commerce and a basic commodity in agriculture, being essential for the propagation of crops and perpetuation of germ plasm. It is of extreme importance that the grower know something of the quality of the seeds he plants. It is therefore important to plan and produce adequate quantities of good quality seed to realize enhanced agricultural production and higher income to farmers. In order to present, the information in a concise manner it was necessary to use certain technical and infrequently used common terms. Thus, a Glossary of Technical Terms and Appendix have also been appended at the end of the book.
