This book aims to examine the role of Panchayati Raj system in the life of Tharu tribal community of North India. Going deep into the socio-economic background of the Tharu representatives, it makes an in-depth study of the level of participation and empowerment of the Tharu representatives in the Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs).
It also attempts to dwell upon the negative and constructive dimensions of various factors that were either working as an impediment or a promoting force for their participation and empowerment in the PRIs.
