ABOUT THE AUTHOR Opender Nath Karir

The author, a retired Colonel of the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army, has more than 25 years of continuous research experience. His other published works are "A Treasury of Indian Quotations and Extracts", and "Democracy is Demonocracy: Selectocracy is Heaven". An ex-alumni of the National Defence Academy (NDA) where he stood First in Academics, the author has taken part in Goa Operations (1961), India-China War (1962) and Indo-Pak War (1965). He has pioneered the first proper Military Archives in India, and has guided M.Phil researchers in Army Engineering subjects. He has authored nearly a hundred articles in print as well as a few short stories. He has also written the "History of the Corps of Engineers, Indian Army, 1957-1972", which became a part of the syllabus of young Engineer Officers at the College of Military Engineering, Pune. He retired from the Army as Lieutenant-Colonel in 1988.
