Om Lata Bahadur, an ex-student of Sacred Heart Convent, Lahore, and Lady Irwin College, New Delhi, is a housewife and a mother who has done a lot of welfare work for the wives of jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police with whom she was in touch because her husband retired as the Director General of the Force. She came to be an author when she was about sixty, and The Gods of the Hindus is her third publication. She is an expert on Hindu traditions and customs. Her first publication A Book of Hindu Festivals and Ceremonies was published in 1994 and, in its tenth print, it is still a bestseller. Her extensive knowledge of Hindu philosophy and mystsic approach to life coupled with an absorption in the Ultimate Reality more than qualify her to write about Hindu gods.
