The Buddha & Jesus: An Anthology of Articles by Jesuits Engaged in Buddhist Studies and Inter-Religious Dialogue

This anthology of sixteen papers reflects the encounters and experiences of Jesuits, who are engaged in Buddhist studies, about the religion and culture of the vast majority of the people of Asia. Highlighting some psychological aspects of Zen, it discusses at length the relation between Dharmakar Bodhisattva and Amitabha, the dialogue between Meister Eckhart and Zen Buddhism, the debate in China on humanistic Buddhism, and the encounter of Jesus Christ with Gautama Buddha.

Further taking a close look at radical orthopraxis of Theravada Buddhism, it describes in detail the dilemma of the ‘supreme’ Zen meditation method in Korea, inculturation of faith in practice, contemporary Buddhist social and political activism in Asia, nirvana as the unconditioned dharma, and the future of pneumatology. Also it examines the relevance of Buddhist education in the present scenario.
