ABOUT THE AUTHOR C. Someswara Rao

C. Someswara Rao, D.Sc., has worked for over 25 years in the R&D divisions of several pharmaceutical companies in India. He obtained the doctorate degree from Andhra University, Waltair while working in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with Prof. D.K. Banerjee on steroid synthesis. His postdoctoral experience was in the University of Manchester with Prof. A.J. Birch, in the University of Detroit with Prof. L. Rand and in the Wisconsin University, Madison with Prof. B.M. Trost. Dr. Rao has developed many innovative modifications in processes for a number of bulk drugs and drug intermediates leading to their manufacture with enhanced safely levels and reduced pollution levels. Ever since retirement in 1998 he has worked as a consultant.
