The Elderly in Urban Indian Families: Conflict in Solidarity

In the coming years, the elderly population in India will grow phenomenally. At the same time the Family size is reducing, more so in urban areas. Due to housing shortage and an increase in the number of women joining the labour force, an increasing number of elderly people are beginning to share residence with their adult children. Interactions are a natural consequence, which may give rise to conflict situation in the family.
