The burgeoning presence of the diaspora Indian writing in English across the continents during the last three decades has, in recent times, triggered a new consideration of the cultural theories of nation, race, and identify. The second volume mostly consists of the presentations at the National Seminar, " The Expatriate Indian Writing in English" held at university Post-Graduate College, Subedari, Kakatiya University, in September 2005. In an effort to enhance the referential value of this critical offering, the editors have included in the third volume, a bibliography with helpful annotations. The contributors to these volumes, drawn from the US, France, Spain, Italy, Finland and India, contemplate the complex questions of construction of self and identity in relation to nation, ethnicity, gender and culture. The book, it is hoped, will make a rich contribution to the fast-growing corpus of diaspora studies.

P. Shailaja is associate Professor in the department of English, Kakatiya University, Warangal. Her doctoral research is in the area of American Literature and Amerindian Literature, Tribal Literature, Indian Diaspora and Womenâ€™s Studies.

T. Vinoda is Professor in the department of English, Kakatiya University, Warangal. Her books include Studies in Translation (co-ed.) (2000), Double Vision: Literature and Films (c0-ed.) (1994), Introducing Nineteenth Century Literature (1994), A Short History of the English Language (1990), and saul Bellow: A Symposium on the Jewish Heritage (co-ed.) (1982). Her research articles, numbering over 50, were published in reputed national and international journals. The areas of her interest include ELT, IWE, Translation Studies, Womenâ€™s Studies and American Literature.
