The present study projects the floristic and vegetational information about the depth and abundance of floristic diversity of the area. The classification followed in general is that by Bentham and Hooker. However, new generic, specific and family names have been recognised as followed by Hutchinson and other modern taxonomists. A brief description of species, reflecting the diagnostic features, ecology, phenology, local names, distribution and specimen voucher numbers have been provided. Plates showing field photographs of some interesting and typical species of the area have been duly incorporated. Besides, detailed information about phytogeography and biological spectrum have been added. Rare and threatened plants of the area have also been described, along with thorough discussion on the reasons for their endangerment. Floristic data, available after exhaustive systematic surveys, is comprehensively analysed, depicting the position of dominant families of flowering plants. A good number of interesting plant records uncommon for Rajasthan and not reported by earlier workers have also been described. The Flora of Rajasthan is a reference manual with a summarised, exclusive and comprehensive information, which will add to our knowledge about flowering plants.
