The Forgotten Forms of Hindustani Music

The book is arranged in five chapters. The first chapter is the historical study of the compositional forms. Here thorough study of the compositional forms from the time of the Vedas to the present period has been done. The second chapter contains the historical study of the lesser known forms over a span of period extending throughout the age of Prabandha. The third chapter is the analysis of the lesser known forms from the point of view of present practice. The fourth chapter deals with the prospects and problems of preservation of the lesser known forms. In the fifth chapter compositions with notation s acquired from different authoritative books and musicians have been presented.
