On going through this book, one immediately becomes conscious of the vast endeavour put in by the author, Prof. (Dr.) L. K. Nanda, in compiling the material of new study course for postgraduate students according to the norms of Central Council of Homoeopathy. Science and Philosophy of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, a new dimension added to post graduation syllabus, which was not explained earlier in many books, has been added by the author for the benefit of the students. This chapter is particularly enlightening with regards to the different philosophies associated with Homoeopathy in general and Homoeopathic Materia Medica in particular. The other chapters like Sources of Materia Medica, Study of Materia Medica, Classification of Symptoms, Construction & Types of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Scope and Limitations of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, different Kingdoms of Homoeopathic Materia Medica are described in lucid style keeping an astute eye to the difficulties faced by the students in the postgraduate curriculum and examinations. This book, based on the author’s lectures in different colleges, will be immensely helpful to the students, teachers of undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. The author will continue his endeavour for publishing more books on Materia Medica on the basis of his long successful clinical practice, which will cater to the needs of the students and practitioners as well.
