This books is one among several others written on the subject of child labour in India. However, the perspective of this book is much wider. It incorporates initiatives at the macro level in the context of India and also discusses concerns at the international level. The chapter on Social Clause tries to highlight the concerns and initiatives on child labour in India and its impact on world trade agreement. The issue of counting and accounting of child labour has also been very analytically discussed. Two very important chapters added to the book are on girl child domestics and child trafficking, the latter being incorporated in ILO Convention 182 as the worst forms of child labour. The chapter on girl child domestics is an empirical study conducted by the author. It also provides recommendations for these children who are in the invisible category and do not get support from any governmental intervention. The chapter on child trafficking gives an overview of the existing situation, the policies and programmes of the government and the strategies that need to be adopted in order to curb child trafficking. The book would be very useful for all those working in the area of child labour and would be a ready reference for NGOs, Government and international agencies supporting programmes on child labour.
