For the first time among the flow of publications on Parsi zoroastrians, here comes a book on the Parsi mind. Apart from the psychological content shedding light on the structural basis of Parsi consciousness of remote zoroastrian religious history in Iran, the author expounds on the central relevance of zoroastrian religious injunctions which have ascertained secular progress and earned for the Parsis enormous cosmopolitan respect for honesty, diligence and munificence. It is contended in the book that the Parsi communal mind is a zoroastrian asset to culture and that "Dwindling numbers, from different causes, is a totally reversible phenomenon among the zoroastrians." The book, however, invites wider readership, the departure from the ethnic angle being author’s appraisal of the pioneering Parsi contributions to all-India industrialization, education, politics and Hindu socio-economic reforms. The scholarly text has been augmented by a foreword from Professor K. Irani of New York which lends further credibility to the book.
