This is the story of Sashwat who wants to marry Gauri. Though Gauri is reluctant and nervous, yet her marriage does take place with Sashwat. Married life is uneasy in that forbidding and unconventional household. The worrying part is the communication gap between Sashwat and her. This makes her withdraw into herself just as it spurs Sashwat to anger. And in anger he leaves home for the US—cutting his losses, hoping never to return.
It is seven years later that he visits India to attend a funeral. Thoughts of his father and his childhood home draw him to a brief stopover in Kolkata. He is surprised to find Gauri there.That fact and some unresolved issues compel him to investigate the disaster that had been their marriage. He does find some answers but they are definitely not what he expected!
