The present work in Medak district covering the central part of the Manjra valley is a follow up of the investigations carried out in the upper reaches of the same river by Prof. R.V. Joshi and his team. It is a result of two seasons (1983-84) field surveys between Janwada and Singoor, a distance of 60 kms. along the stream. These are threatened with submersion by the construction of a dam across the Manjra river at Singoor. An interesting side light from this region is the absence of lower and middle palaeolithic evidences. The cultural succession begins with upper palaeolithc. Mesolithic evidences too are discovered at a number of localities. The close affiliations between these cultures are seen at sites both in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
