The Races of Man is ank excellent outline of the twin sciences of anthropology and ethnography. In addition to the actual facts of the subject it provides brief explanations of these facts based on the theories bearing on them. Theauthor has ventured at times to advance his own views where there seemed to be a conflict among the various theories. Special care has been taken in the selection of illustrations which elucidate the text. Technical terms have been explained and annotated with a view to enabling even a general reader to understand the fundamentals of these sciences. The extensive bibliographical notes which contain a vast body of information ga5thered from notes and memories in all language make the book a valuable reference work for even professional anthropologists.
