The focus of all the volumes is on the role of the Muslim freedom fighters in the respective regions. They cover the First War of Independence, Muslim awakening during the British rule and the role of Muslims in various phases of the national movement. Additional information on Muslim individual freedom fighters Satyagrahis of each region is available in the appendices of respective volumes. Volume 1, on Delhi is slightly different. Delhi being the capital of British Empire since 1911, was the hotbed of national politics. Besides its regional perspective it focuses on the role of Muslims in national politics. Its appendices include information on individual Muslim freedom fighters whose range of activities covered larger areas like the Muslim freedom fighters settled abroad employed in all India services massacre at Jallianwala Bagh sacrifices and services of Muslims in Indian National Army and the Muslim patriotic support to the rebel Royal Indian Navy. Appendices to Volume 1 indicate a comprehensive projection of the Muslim contribution to the freedom struggle of India.
