This is a fascinating book on visual images of the Sikhs and their realms of the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. Printed together for the first time are the best of such collections remaining in India, many so far unpublished. The mediums illustrated include miniature and ivory paintings, frescoes and murals, lithographs and photographs. The subjects of religious, courtly and everyday life are vividly portrayed and the images effectively capture the aura of the glorious heritage of the Sikhs.
