This handbook has been prepared to better describe those ‘THINGS’ that are to be set up… And to provide some support and guidance to the energetic, but perhaps inexperienced, new ‘Project Manager’. It is the author’s desire that this book becomes as useful to managers and project personnel as the book ‘The Barefoot Doctor’ is to the under-equipped and less skilled medical personnel working in remote in remote areas of the world.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jim Myers
Jim Myers started out in this 'development' business as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 1965. He was assigned to a small village in Andhra Pradesh, India with the instructions to teach local farmers the new deep litter system of poultry rearing. A noble gesture....which also became his first experience as 'the undressed manager.' Since 1965 Jim has lived and worked in more than 40 developing countries in Asia, Africa, The Balkans and former Soviet Union countries. He has worked for the UN, international NGOs and the private sector on a wide range of projects funded by western donors and governments. He has during his more then 42 years seen so many well meaning, dedicated people fall on their backside because they were NOT given the 'basic tools' for managing and implementing projects. He now hopes to rectify this problem for the future development programme professionals through his handbook 'The Undressed Manager'. Read it.....and then do it better!
