Third Eye: Women Writings from Karnataka

Third Eye — a compilation of short stories written by leading Kannda women writers, translated for the first time into English, focus on women, in their different roles — a modern housewife, an illiterate home-maker, sculptor’s wife from the medieval times, a reluctant wife married to an elderly widower, a mother — caught between conservatism and modernity. The spectrum of issues raised in these stories move beyond the feminist, reflecting changing social mores from the late 1940s to the contemporary times.
