Together As Sisters: Hagar and Dalit Women

The volume explores Dalit studies, feminism, biblical studies, philosophical hermeneutics, liberation theology and narrative criticism in order to provide insights into the oppressed world of Dalit women in India today . It draws a parallel between the biblical woman Hagar based on an exegetical study of Genesis in the Bible and Dalit women, pointing out that the story of the latter imitates the former. It details the different types of oppression Dalit women face in society and their fight for survival and emancipation. It comes in an attempt to link biblical studies to the actual life of the people.
