This book about the traditional medicine is not just another book on medicinal plants but is based in deeply rooted health care system in tribal areas of Satpudas. The book contains information on 217 species of plants used by tribals of Satpudas arranged according to their scientific names. The book also mentions the local name of pant, family, brief description of the plant, its distribution, medicinal uses with the name of medicine men etc. The book contains 202 photographs including 174 photographs of 157 plants species. The index is given as per local names also which help locating the scientific name form local name. It also contains glimpse of local traditions and culture. The book is based on first hand knowledge of the author who traversed hundreds of kilometers on foot, visiting number of padas (hamlets) in Satpudas and met hundreds of local medicine men of Pawara and Bhil communities. This book is outcome of over 10 year study of the author on local health tradition and medicinal plants. The book also contains ethno medico zoological observations where in the uses of animal parts/products by the local people. This book should prove a handy reference for university students of botany, biodiversity, forestry, serving foresters, forest colleges and public at large with interest in traditional medicine.
