‘Management of Bus Transport’ has bee gaining more and more importance and has emerged as an independent field of management because of an ever-increasing popularity of bus transport specially for short distances which is evident from an unabated diversion of passenger traffic to bus transport from other means, specially railways. Viz. situation of bus stations, their layout, staffing; provision of amenities and facilities to the traveling passengers; system of booking and seating arrangements; loading and unloading of luggage; facilities like cloak rooms and reservation; etc. The book also includes some practical suggestions for standardizing the ticket system and parking order of buses; for improving the daily earnings of bus stations; for ensuring neatness and cleanliness; etc. It also covers some modern and key issues like the problem of communication, punctuality in service, dissemination of information, provision of special bus services and special frequencies, control of traffic, liaison between the frequency of service and traffic volume, etc

ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.K. Kulshrestha

Dr. D.K. Kulshrestha (b. 1944) did his M.Com., M.A. (Economics), Ph.D. (Commerce) and D.Litt. (Com. Bus. Admn.) from Agra University. After serving at Hindu College, Sonepat (Haryana) for a couple of years, Dr. Kulshrestha has been working as Reader in the Commerce Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research at Hindu P.G. College, Moradabad (U.P.). A seasoned and experienced teacher and researcher, he has produced 17 Ph.Ds. in Commerce and Economics and is supervising a number of research scholars. He has contributed above 80 outstanding research papers and articles in the journals of international repute. Dr. Kulshrestha is member of several national academic bodies and has been on the Executive Committees of the bodies like All India Accounting Association, Indian Commerce Association, etc. He has attended a number of academic conferences and seminars and presented valuable research papers. Presently, he is Joint-Secretary of the Indian Commerce Association.
