The State Museum has a treasure of artifacts which has been attracting visitors in large numbers. To instill pride in our traditions as well as protected the ancient knowledge bank we must conserve our heritage for future generations. The museum has seventeen different galleries categorized item-wise. The galleries showcase pre-historic articles and objects, sculptures, epigraphs, manuscripts, Bagh paintings, royal collection, rare musical instruments, textiles, documents, articles associated with the freedom struggle, postal stamps, autographs, miniature paintings, coins, arms and weapons. The objective of this book is to evoke interest of the common man as well as the connoisseur in visiting the State Museum.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Smita Gate

Smita Gate is currently working as Commissioner, Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums, Bhopal. She has earlier worked in various capacities in diverse areas such as finance, health, education, as a Collector as well as deputation to the Film and television Institute of India. Smita Gate is as IAS officer with keen interest in arts and literature. An avid painter herself, she has had her painting exhibitions. She has done anchoring for shows, voice-over and dubbing for various documentary films and projects. The earlier published work includes 'Development of Women' a book on policies for women in different States and several other articles and papers. A graduate in Microbiology, she has a scientific approach towards her work.
