The book is a pictorial presentation of the trees of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Since its commissioning in 1929 (the then Viceroy’s House) 160 tree species have been added to the barren top of Raisina Hill. The considerable bio-diversity depicted among trees of the estate warrants its registration, conservation and multiplication using modern and conventional biotechnology. This book presents photographs of these trees along with their leaf, flower, fruit and their location in vast estate of over 300 acres facilitating an easy spotting. A brief description of each tree is supplemented with names in important Indian languages. The book also showcases the aesthetic, ornamental, environmental, herbal and commercial importance of the trees.
