The tribal communities constitute 8.2% of the total population of India. They are a distinct ethnic group having their own indigenous identity. Tribes are undergoing several changes in various spheres of life on account of the contact with the caste Hindus and people of mainstream society. We may classify tribes in India as tribes and scheduled tribes. Scholarly studies and research on tribal communities in India are generally confined to scheduled tribes. The tribes which are not scheduled are also the neglected sections of India’s population. The present book focuses on culture, change , mobility and problems of Kadu Golla Community, a non-scheduled tribe of Karnataka. This book also focuses on marriage and family, stratification, living conditions, food pattern, economy, religion, education, political organization and social movement, social mobility and changes that have taken place due to the impact of Hinduization, Sanskritization and modernization.
