The Indian subcontinent has the largest concentration of tribal population in the world. After independence various measures have been devised and implemented for the uplift of the tribals, but tribal welfare and development has remained very slow and steady. This book is based on the proceedings of a nation seminar entitled 'Emerging Roles of Anthropological Knowledge in Promoting Tribal Welfare and Development', sponsored by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. It contains twenty five papers from various disciplines. The papers based on applied in nature and contents directly or indirectly are useful for the betterment or uplift of any aspect of tribal life. The main objective of the book is to give momentum to slow and steady growth of tribal welfare and development.
