The tribal societies have experienced religious and other cultural inclusion in to the so-called universal or dominant culture and consequently faced the problem of identity crisis. Exclusion from infrastructure and health and education etc has led them to a situation where they find it difficult to cope with the outside world at present day situation. The paper tries to find out what were the means and aims of tribal exclusion and inclusion and the consequences of the same with some instances.
