Arunachal Pradesh, the northern-most state of the Northeast region of India is the homeland of a number of tribes and sub-tribes. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Bibhas Dhar

Dr. Bibhas Dhar, M.Sc., Ph.D. (born 1954) has obtained his M.Sc. (1975) degree from the Gauhati University, Guwahati and Ph.D. (1991) degree from Dibrugarh University. In 1980 he joined Anthropological Survey of India, Govt. of India at Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre at Port Blair. He undertook research work among different ethnic groups of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam and Meghalaya. Presently Dr. Dhar posted in the North East Regional Centre of anthropological Survey of India at Shillong as anthropologist . He has published 30 research papers and articles in different reputed International journals and books. He is also attached to different scientific institutions and organizations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Palash Chandra Coomar

Dr. Palash Chandra Coomar, M.Sc., Ph.D. (born 1956) is at present working as the Deputy director, Directorate of Census Operations, west Bengal. Earlier he was in the anthropological Survey of India. He undertook research work among different tribal and non-tribal communities in different parts of India. He is also the paper-setter and examiner of Post-graduate and Ph.D. students of different parts of India. He is also the paper-setter and examiner of Post-graduate and Ph.D. students of different Universities. He has also published a number of books and articles. Some of his important books are Tribal India in 2 vols. (with Dr. M.K. Raha) Polyandry in India (with Dr. M.K. Raha), Migration and Social Change.
