ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ayesha Taleyarkhan

Initially when she discovered she had developed a passion for photography, Ashok Advani, publisher, Business India, discovered her. Ayesha entered the world of B&W photography as Business India's first photographer. The starkness and intensity of the medium took over and the images acquired a distinct identity. This B&W phase never really waned, though. Some years later she was swept into the colourful and glamorous realm of advertising photography. It was the world of fashion shows and elegant models, of product shoots or shoots in far off locations. Though this was far removed from the drama of B&W, Ayesha was as comfortable with the dynamic element of vivid colour as she was with monochrome. Given that visual expression doesn't have boundaries, Ayesha's work found diverse forms of creativity. As she made a foray into the photo book genre. The balconies of Bombay caught her imagination and 'Bombay: balconies & Verandahs' was born. The 24/7 aspect of the city came to life when 'Bombay Mumbai: A day in the life of an astonishing city' was released a few years later. Next, Ayesha focused on Indian women, and her latest work 'Stree:  Woman of India' depicts Indian women in all their incredible diversity. She's not done yet, her impassioned search for images continues.
