The book is a study of the ‘Sutra of the Recollections of the Noble Three Jewels’, one of the basic teachings of the Buddha that is recited daily by lay people and monastics. The study presents a fresh translation of the Sutra in English along with the text of the Sutra in Sanskrit, Pali and Tibetan. It examines three major commentaries on the Sutra to examine its many aspects like how the Sutra developed from the Buddha’s early teachings called the ‘Recollections’ and its use by Buddhist practitioners. It is also concerned with the problems in translating the words from the Tibetan version.
