Uneven Growth in India presents a comprehensive collection of research studies that focuses on regional economic disparity, particularly intra-state disparities that have received relatively less attention in the literature. Together, this collection provides an overview of multiple dimensions of regional disparity, endogenising the ‘region’ in the social and sectoral disparity and points to its historical neglected by the state in public expenditure decisions to address disparity. Further, this set of studies, derived from multiple methodological approaches, converge on the structural constraints of the post-liberalisation growth process that have led to the accentuation of the regional disparity.
