Urban-Rural Linkages and Environmental Issues

Abha Lakshmi Singh did her B.A. from Allahabad University and M.A. and Ph.D. from aligarh Muslim University. She had a brilliant academic career having obtained Gold Medal in M.A. She joined the Geography Department, AMU as Lecturer in 1978. Presently she is Professor and Chairman of the Department. Prof. Singh specializes in Agricultural and Environmental Geography. Her four books Economics and Geography of Agricultural Land Raclamatio, Problems of Waste Lands Reclamation, Problems of waste Lands in India, Land Resources Management, Agricultural and rural Development and the project (sponsored by International Insitute of Environment, London) are pioneering work in the fields of Agricultural and Environmental Geography. She has travelled abroad widely, delivered a series of lectuers in different Universities of U.S.A. (1984) and attended an International Workship of Planning for Sustainable Urban Development, University of Wales, Cardiff, U.K. (1992). She has been nominated as full Member of International Geographic Union Commission on Marginal and Critical Lands (1997P. She is a prolifcwriter and has published nearly sixty research papers in national and international journals. She has presented papers in both national and international conferences. Several students have objained Ph.D. under her supervision.

Did her B.Sc.(2006), M.Sc. (2008) and Ph.D (2012) From Aligarh Muslim University. Though out she had a brilliant academic carrer having obtained University Gold Medal from topping in B.Sc. and M.Sc. Presently she is teaching in the Department of Geography at Aligarh Muslim University. During her research tenure she was awarded with various prestigious scholarships (Post Graduate Merit Scholarship, Inspire Fellowship by DST, Government of India) and best paper presentation awards like "Young Geographer Award in February 2010 at Banaras Hindu University", Prof. N.P.Aiyyar Young Geographer Award in Novermber 21 at Punjab University", Nishi Gaur Young Researcher Award in January 2012 at DDU Gorakhpur University" and other academic a awards like "Best Researcher Award in January 2011 at Aligarh Muslim University" etc. She specializes in the field of environmental pollution, gender and health etc. she is a prolofic researcher. She has published various paper in National (Punjab Geographer, Geographical Review of India, Annals, National Geographical journal of India, Journal of Eco Development, Regional Science) and International (International Journal of Environment and Health, E3 Journal of Environmental Research and Management, Journal of Environmental Protection) Journals of repute.
