Camatkara Cintamani of Lolimbaraja is an important work both from medical point of view as well as for its poetic merits. Moreover this book has beautifully portrayed Lolimbaraja’s wife Ratnakala. Utility of various formulae of Camatkara Cintamani cannot be minimized due to limited and easily available ingredients. Because the efficacy of the formulae in curing the various diseases has proved them useful. Now the book has been translated in English Almost in verbatim, without disturbing the basic idea of the author by authorities of the subject. The commentaries made in the book provide sufficient scope of Camatkara Cintamani in relation to five top most books i.e. Cakradatta, Astanga Hrdayam, Sarngadhara Samhita, Bhaisajya-ratnavali can get almost all the references of these five books also about the topics dealt in Camatkara Cintamani.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Nirmal Saxena
Dr. Nirmal Saxena, is well-known for his outstanding contributions in the fields of Ayurveda and History of Sciences. In the course of nearly twenty years dedicated to research he contributed innumerable articles to reputed national and international journals in History, medicine and Science. Born on November 4, 1952 in the family of a Vaidya Krishna Kumar. He got his university education at Banaras Hindu University. He completed his Ph.D. on topic, "Development of Indian Medicine from 1400 to 1600 A.D." Passing through a chequered carreer of lecturer in History at Yriloknath Postgraduate College, Tanda, Faizabad, he joined as project Investigator under the History of Science Programme of Indian National science Academy, New Delhi. Completed a Project, "A Critical Study of Yogaratnakara" sanctioned by the National Commission for History of sciences in India. At present he is again associated with INSA and working on the Project English Translation of the Vaidya Jivana of Lolimaraja at department of History, Bareilly College, Rohilkhand University, Bareilly.
