Vande Mataram and Islam

The history of Vande Mataram is closely linked with the Indian freedom struggle. He large body of Indian writers of various languages naturalized the Vande Mataram in all parts of India. The revolutionary movement derived its inspiration from the song. For the Indian national Congress, it had been sacred ritual to open its sessions with the singing of Vande Mataram. The British Indian Government banned it, while the Muslim League vehemently opposed the song. The conflicting views about Vande Mataram are carefully investigated and analysed in this book.
