Another name for abstraction is virtualization. This is an abstraction of what exists in reality and what one looks at or feels. It can be partitioning, for example, dividing the resources of computers into multiple execution environments and each hardware or software partition, rendering itself as a distinct instance for a user. On the contrary, it can be an amalgamation of computing resources, for example, a combination of a set of limited size storage devices to present one large logical storage.
